Burggarten, Volksgarten and Rathauspark – 3 green oases in the heart of the city, then as now
More than 200 years ago, the imperial family created two magnificent gardens, complete with a palm house, the neoclassical Temple of Theuseus, numerous monuments, and a wide variety of plants. The Burggarten served as a recreational area for the imperial family, while the Volksgarten, with its array of restaurants and cafes, soon became a place of leisure and enjoyment for the Viennese population. Today, the rose garden, with its fragrant roses, invites visitors to linger.
Just across the Ringstrasse, you'll find the Rathauspark, a place of recreation for the citizens of Vienna, completed in 1873 and commissioned by the then-mayor. Today, the Rathauspark hosts numerous events and also impresses with its sculptures, fountains, and its oldest tree, a plane tree dating back to 1793. Lots of new things await you! :-)
Tours in English or Italian are available upon request!
I'm looking forward to seeing you, Tina.
